Expected to take up 81 hectares, the project is predicted to be one of the largest African solar power plants linked to a grid. The plant will supply an estimated 76,473 megawatt hours, decreasing carbon emissions (-64,190 tons) and coal consumption (-24,470 tons) every year.
The project is to be located in Garissa, an area known to be arid with long desert stretches and hence, ideal location wise for obtaining solar energy. In order to facilitate the installation, future operation, and maintenance processes, JinkoSolar is also planning the pre-assembled modular project.
Moreover, to protect domestic crops, a spiral pile design and pile pouring will be employed.
Initiating the use of solar energy is forecast to significantly contribute to the Kenyan energy sector, benefitting an array of businesses for sustainable growth.
