Buyisela, which means give back, is a project by the department of water and environmental affairs , Indalo Yethu and Buyisa eBag.The project will create 10 eco-towns modelled on sustainability as a legacy project which will serve as a framework blueprint for other towns to follow.The department has set aside R400million for the Buyisela eco-towns programme that will be rolled out to 10 municipalities.Buyisela will supplement municipal street cleaning, clear up all hotspots and establish landfill sites.It will also rehabilitate dumping sites and encourage recycling.Buyisela will target open spaces because they create problems such as illegal dumping, poor aesthetics, pollution from domestic usage and industries, thus increasing health and safety risks.Deputy Minister of Environmental Affairs Joyce Mabudafhasi will commemorate World Environment Day (WED) on June 5 by launching the Buyisela eco-programme in Mantsopa in the Free State.This year’s theme is: Global Day for Positive Environment Action. It aims to involve ordinary citizens in greening their countries.
