In collaboration with UNIDO, ICSHP published the flagship publication World Small Hydropower Development Report (WSHPDR) in 2013. The WSHPDR provides the first global assessment of the development status and resource potential for small hydropower, thereby informing practitioners, policy- and decision-makers, and investors with reliable knowledge and data to accelerate SHP development worldwide. It brings together the combined expertise of more than 60 authors and organizations to share on-the-ground knowledge of SHP capacities and potential.
The WSHPDR knowledge platform (www.smallhydroworld.org) was launched and provides a portal for sharing comprehensive and up-to-date SHP data.
The online platform features:
- – 20 regional overviews and 149 country-level reports
- – The Executive Summary available in Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish
- – Regular country profile updates
The WSHPDR Secretariat collaborates with national institutions to facilitate continuous monitoring and collection of data. The updated report is published on a tri-annual basis.
Potential partners are invited to participate in extending the world’s small hydropower knowledge database.
