The Chief Directorate: Pollution and Waste Management is proud to announce that the Department of Environmental Affairs is planning to conduct (9) provincial road shows on the tentative dates listed below.
The Minister recently hosted the 1st Waste Management Officers Conference the 15-16 September 2010, the Waste Khoro, which targeted mainly government participants namely; national government departments, provincial departments of local government and environment as well as local government. The Department would like to take this time and thank you for your participation and contribution to this historical event. The next plan is to have provincial road shows which will aim at popularising the Waste Act, as well as give the Department a platform to engage with the wider stakeholders on the different provisions of the Waste Act. This process will enhance the smooth implementation of the Act as well as create awareness on the Act.
The Waste Act came into effect on 1 July 2009 and the Department is taking this opportunity to create awareness, share information with the general public and involve the media extensively in profiling the Act.
