Private equity company TriVest, which owns solar power specialist Solsquare, has acquired a 50% stake in Solartech, one of South Africa’s leading solar water heater franchise networks.
The transaction extends Solsquare’s solar water heating and photovoltaic equipment sales channel to 65 sites nationally, which MD Niels von Hase argued will position it to service growing countrywide demand for its domestic and industrial solutions.
Solsquare specialises in the supply of German-engineered solar energy systems and its product offering includes energy efficiency services, such as its energy audits.
Solartech MD James McCallum says Solsquare’s intellectual property will enrich the franchise network and enable the company to diversify its market offering beyond solar water heating.
