CA Global: Power and Energy (Africa Positions) has a client that is in need of a Recourses Analyst Manager (Renewable Energy / Wind Power / Solar Power) the position is based in Johannesburg, South Africa
OVERVIEW
A resources analyst manager is required to provide analytical support to the renewable business unit with regards to wind and solar resources assessment, energy capture derivation, site conditions, and wind farm optimization. The study is required to aid robust project development and assessment suitability and economic viability of sites.
REQUIREMENTS
• Relevant engineering / technical degree
• 6 – 10 years post graduate experience
• Excellent communication skills, written and spoken
• Ability to produce in-depth technical assessment reports
• Good negotiation skills
• Technically minded
• Experience in the renewable energy sector is preferred
• Own reliable transport with a valid driving license is 3ssential
• Prior management experience of a small team
• Passion for renewable energy
• Willingness to travel into the rest of Africa when needed
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO
• Develop, plan, coordinate, analyses and manage all aspects of wind, solar and other renewable energy resources
• Conduct resources assessment, siting, feasibility studies, new technology evaluation, and project proposal evaluation. Market assessment, strategic planning, policy evaluation and economic analysis
• Leading technical due diligence in areas including but not limited to park design, wind and solar resources assessment, wind turbine generator (WTG) selection, PV technology selection, verification of park’s authorization and grid connections and data evaluation for operating parks
• Defining requirements and management of third parties where technical due diligence to be fulfilled by external assessment providers and park designers.
• Lead and contribute to authorship reports, studies and proposals
• Develop technical and economic anaylisis of projects and technologies using built models
• Coordinate resources analysis and data management with others in multi-disciplinary teams
• Identifying and understanding project issues and working collaboratively to develop and communicate creative solutions
• Assessing regulatory, technical and market issues to evaluate competitive dynamics of various resource options.
• Providing input into the selection of the most appropriate WTG, CSP and PV options and defining specifications for such procurement
• Designing the most appropriate layout for new wind and solar parks
• Reviewing and approving external studies on energy production and parks layout
• Advising the project team on areas where local content, beneficial opportunities can be exploited
• Advising the project team on technical risk inherent in the project and strategies to deploy to mitigate the impact
• Ensuing lessons learned from other projects are incorporated in the engineering activities
