Gordon Road Girls’ School (GRGS) was established in 1912 & specializes in the education of the girl child and caters for girls from 3-13 years old from various cultural, religious and socio-economic backgrounds.
We are passionate about the use of alternative energy in our beautiful sunny South Africa

We pride ourselves on being a Green school & were thrilled when were awarded a Green Flag by WESSA & Eco and an Eco-School Certificate.  We are hugely successful with our recycling projects & various other Eco-programs.

We’ve enthusiastically taken part in the Science Expo held by the Ethekwini Council at the Botanic Gardens.   We have also had our “Energy Detectives” showcase their work at the Mercury’s Grideye Energy Save Competition, which they won.  The price money was spent on building a small Solar Powered Panel.

GRGS understands and embraces the importance of community service.  We are involved in various outreach projects with the SPCA; Feed the Babies Fund; Collection of gifts over the festive seasons to mention but a few.

Our school has a twin school in Umlazi, Vumokuhle Primary whom we have assisted by setting up a Grade R Class, by donating readers, stationery, toys, library books, clothing, school furniture etc.  Staff from Vumokuhle is often invited to attend various workshops as guests of our school focusing on three main areas, Emotional Intelligence, Discipline and Whole Brain Leaving.

Networking with Vumokhule has taken place for 8 years.  They have shown a keen interest in the solar powered panel that we built for our school.

We earnestly seek sponsorship for the installation of more Solar Panels at Gordon Road Girls’ School in 2011 and financial assistance to install Solar Panels at Vumokuhle in Umlazi.
