This task will see a desktop review of municipal energy management policies and systems. The aim will
be to identify international and national best practice in public sector energy management policy and
implementation that is relevant to the eThekwini context. These best practice examples will be used to
develop a skeleton for the eThekwini policy and implementation plan.
The outputs of this activity will be:
1. A summary of key criteria of successful municipal energy management policies
2. A short-list of the energy management systems being implemented successfully in other local governments
3. A draft skeleton of the energy management policy and implementation plan for the city of Durban
