First of all, I would like to wish everyone in the Energy Access Practitioner Network best wishes for 2016. We look forward to continue engaging with you in the year to come.

Second, I would like to let you know about an important Request for Proposals (RFP) that we are issuing today relating to our ongoing energy and health electrification work in Sub-Saharan Africa as follows:

The United Nations Foundation is seeking proposals from qualified organizations or a consortium of organizations to design, supply, install and maintain decentralized solar PV solutions for a total of 80 un-electrified or under-electrified health facilities in Ghana and Uganda. Funded by the UK’s Department for International Development (DFID) and managed by the UN Foundation, this project falls within the High-Impact Opportunity Energy for Women and Children’s Health, as part of the Sustainable Energy for All (SE4ALL) initiative. The project’s over-arching objective is to improve health outcomes for people (paying particular attention to women and children) living in rural and remote parts of sub-Saharan Africa through improving the availability and quality of electricity-dependent health services in primary health facilities.

Bidding documents are available on the practitioner network website at http://energyaccess.org/opportunities/. Please read all documents carefully.

Bids should be submitted to the UN Foundation in electronic format (PDF file) via e-mail to EfWCH@unfoundation.org by or before January 27th, 2016, 5pm East Coast time.

While I know that many of you will have questions about the RFP, please do not respond directly to me about this, since questions and proposals sent to any other e-mail address than EfWCH@unfoundation.org will not be considered, and deemed invalid for the purposes of this request.

Best regards,

Richenda
