REASWA is a registered, non-profit making NGO whose mission is to promote sustainable energy through energy efficiency and the cost-effective use of renewable energy, in an environmentally sustainable and socially acceptable manner.
REASWA consists of a cross-section of stakeholders from government, the private sector, non-governmental organizations and tertiary institutions.
REASWA was established in 1998 under an EU-funded project in the Southern African Renewable Energy Information Network (SAREIN) with the assistance of the Swaziland Ministry of Natural Resources and Energy.
From since then it has been a membership organization, and more than a hundred members have the opportunity to participate through the Annual General Meeting. The Association has a wide membership including representatives from equipment manufacturers and suppliers, research organizations, government departments and individuals interested in promoting the use of renewable energy in the country.
