2011 is set to be a pivotal year for environmental sustainability in South Africa. SA’s National Climate Change Green paper is due to become law towards the middle of the year, impacting individuals and companies alike. The most talked about event on the climate change agenda however, is COP17 which is taking place in Durban in December 2011. The Kyoto Protocol’s commitments end on 31 December 2011 and the expectations are high for a commitment in Durban. No matter what happens there though, it’s become clear to the world that we need to change our ways. Adopting sustainable business practices and living sustainable lifestyles is the only way to ensure our long-term survival.
