Exxaro Resources has stated that its Brand-se-Baai wind farm in South Africa’s Western Cape will be online by the middle of 2012.
According to the company, wind speed measurements and an environmental impact assessment are both underway at the site which has been acquired by Exxaro. The company has also said they are in talks with state-owned utility Eskom about selling the power through the renewable energy feed-in tariff initiative.
The total installed capacity of the project is likely to be around 50 MW however there may be scope to increase this to 100 MW depending on the results of the wind speed tests.
