With over 68 pipeline projects covering a total length of 28 213km planned in Africa, the continent continues to offer business opportunities to suppliers and service providers in the sector. It’s evident that the success of the annual Pumps Valves & Pipes Africa Exhibition keeps attracting exhibitors to participate in the event year after year. It attracts thousands of visitors from the irrigation, water, mining, gas and petroleum sectors to discover new products and services.

Energy Engineered Products, which distributes stainless steel products and industrial valves, is exhibiting at Pumps Valves & Pipes Africa 2011 (PVPA) for the third consecutive year on a larger purpose-built exhibition stand.

“PVPA is a highly focused technical trade show which is extremely beneficial to our business,” says Graham Whitty, director of Energy Engineered Products. The company is one of many repeat exhibitors at the show, which takes place from 7 to 9 June at Gallagher Convention Centre, Midrand.

One of the new additions to PVPA is a German pavilion representing various German companies. “We are dedicated to opening new markets and accessing opportunities in Africa and beyond,” says Shaan Padayachy, a Trade Fair Services assistant with the Southern African German Chamber of Commerce.

Ainsworth Engineering will be exhibiting again, this time with its subsidiary, United Valve Company South Africa. The two enterprises specialise in the manufacture, reconditioning, import and export of valves. Their product range includes resilient seal gate valves, slurry gate valves and cast steel single-door reflux valves, which are supplied to mines such as Anglo Gold Ashanti. They also supply Harmony, Crown Mines and Anglo Platinum. “We expect to meet valuable connections in the industry who can help to grow our market”, says Reggie Naidoo, Projects Estimator for United Valve Company South Africa.

Another exhibitor, Flexicon Piping Specialists, is enthusiastic about the opportunities available at PVPA 2011. “We are building a database of potential leads and also expect to meet prospective clients,” says Nicole van der Walt, the Marketing Manager. Flexicon Piping Specialists, a division of the First Strut Group, is a leading manufacturer, supplier, fabricator and installer of high density polyethylene (HDPE) thermoplastic piping; and fitting systems used within the mining industry, civils, power generation, steel plant and industrial sectors.

According to a U.S. study, global demand for industrial valves is forecast to increase by 4.4% annually during 2011, driven by ongoing growth in developing countries, and a shift towards expensive automated valves and actuators in advanced economies.

“PVPA is the biggest trade show of its type on the continent,” says John Thomson, Managing Director of Exhibition Management Services, organisers of the show. “It attracts thousands of visitors involved in the water, gas and petroleum industries, who bring with them countless opportunities for business.

“It’s a powerful networking forum where companies from Africa and around the world can meet, interact, exchange ideas and identify potential investments.”
