Waste Management has an important role to play in responding to climate change.
The Department of Environmental Affairs has led the process of formulating an effective and comprehensive national response to climate change in the form of the Green Paper on a National Climate Change Response, which has now been gazetted for public comment. On the basis of comments and suggestions received on the Green Paper, the Department will lead the drafting of the White Paper.
As part of the public consultation on the Green Paper on the National Climate Change Response, the Department will be hosting a consultative workshop in each of the nine provinces, from the 17th Jan 2011 to the 4th Feb 2011.
