Are South Africans oblivious to the issues of Global Warming ?

South Africans are seen as totally oblivious to the issues of global warming, energy and food crisis. Given the urgency of the issue of climate change, recent research shows a totally different outlook.
Eskom’s ridiculous tariff increase and the upcoming international climate negotiations in Copenhagen this December, everything now is about renewable energies and energy efficiency; everybody is talking about saving the world and expressing support for finding a sustainable solution to the climate crises.
The public should be made aware of the range of solutions available to take advantage of the technologies that will contribute most effectively towards individual energy conservation and efficiency. We are not looking to sustain wasteful life styles and we will achieve this by educating and responsibly recommending the most appropriate solution.
South Africa could utilize these products, which would assist in reducing pressure on the state-owned power utility Eskom. The National Energy Regulator of South Africa is currently giving close consideration to the implementation of such schemes. The opportunity to sell power back to the grid adds a meaningful incentive for people to invest in alternative power systems on their properties.
