OGUN State governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has stated that no nation can attain development without adequate power supply, noting that it was the realisation of this that led to liberalisation of power sector by the Federal Government.

He said small, medium and large scale industries could only flourish where there was adequate power supply.

The governor disclosed this on Monday, in Abeokuta, while declaring open the Nigerian Alternative Energy Expo, facilitated by Mathesis Consulting, United Kingdom.

“Energy is central to all aspects of development,” he declared.

Amosun lamented that despite abundance of alternative energy sources, the nation was yet to take advantage of them.

“Hosting of this expo with theme, ‘Alternative energy for increased capacity and sustainability’ could not have come at a better time,” he said.

He listed some of the achievements of his administration in the power sector to include distribution of 500 transformers to needy communities, execution of solar energy project at Asore village, in partnership with Schneider Electric and hosting of a five-day workshop in May, on training professionals from different states on energy demand and supply projections, in collaboration with Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN),” he added.
